FAQs

Q1. If I give you my email address, will you send me spam?

A1. In a word, no. There are 3 occasions in which we may ask for your email address. On only one of these occasions is giving us your email address mandatory.
(i) If you have attended a wedding or have come for a portrait sitting, you may have been given a web address to go to in order to purchase images from the shoot. If you go to that web address before the images are online and ready for purchase, there will be a field into which you can give us your email address and we will then send you an email as soon as the images go online. That way, you don't have to keep checking back to see if they are there yet. The important thing? After we've sent you that email telling you they're online, we delete your email address. We will not use it for any other reason. In fact, we won't even have it any longer.
(ii) You've chosen some images you'd like to purchase, and are at the stage of placing an order. At this stage, we DO need your email address - but only in case something goes wrong and we need to get in touch it you. Likewise your telephone number. We only keep this information for a short period until we know that you're order has been dispatched and you haven't got in touch with us to say you haven't received it. We do not use it for marketing, or spam, or call you up with special offers or send you emails promising to make your appendages longer. Nor do we share it with ANYONE else.
(iii) Finally, we may have a 'newsletter sign up' option, where you can choose to keep up to date with updates and offers from us. This is entirely optional, and each e-newsletter will have a link to unsubscribe and stop receiving mailings. Why would you want to? Well, because to say thank you we'll occasionally give you offer codes that no one else will get. And that will make your shopping at the store cheaper, and therefore better.

Q2. How do I know it's safe to give you my card details?

A2. We never see your card details - we use PayPal to handle our transaction processing. PayPal has, for over a decade, been the world leader in online payments, and for that reason we thought it best to leave the sensitive issue of card payments to them. Furthermore, you do not need to have a PayPal account - simply a credit or debit card. After you have reviewed the items you've put in your basket, and amended/added/deleted any as necessary you will be taken to a secure PayPal transaction page to actually make payment. You will then get an Order Confirmation and be returned to the Lee Garland Photography site. PayPal will then send us your payment, and we will send you your order. To see just how secure PayPal is, there is more information on their system here: https://www.paypal-marketing.co.uk/safetyadvice/PayPalSafeForBuyers.htm
We are not the only people choosing to use PayPal to handle their transactions, Laura Ashley, Ted Baker, BBC Shop, eBay, Nike, Dorothy Perkins, TopMan to name a few also use PayPal on their sites.

Q3. You gave me a web address to go to in order to see my photos, why are they not there yet?

A3. Because good things come to those who wait. All of the photography goes through post-production first to ensure it meets our strict quality standards. This is done by a human, on an image by image basis, and therefore takes a little time. Furthermore, the 'back end' of our store needs to cross-reference with the printers before it is ready to take orders, and this needs to be tested before we open the shop doors. What all of this means is that by the time your images are ready for purchase you can be assured they are all up to the correct standard, and that there should be no hiccups in the ordering process. What you will see if you go to your web-gallery too early, is that there is a field in which you can input your email address and we will notify you as soon as the images go live. That way you don't have to keep checking back. And no, we won't use your email address to send you any spam (see Q1 above).

Q4. Where's your price list?

A4. The images across the site do not necessarily all share the same prices, therefore it is not possible to publish an all-encompassing price list. By clicking on an image you will be given the prices for the various options you can have that image in. These prices will also be displayed when you click on Checkout and can see your entire basket of goods. At this stage you still have the option of changing the options on each image in your basket, to increase or decrease the quantity, change the size of the prints or delete the image from your basket altogether.

Q5. Do you charge VAT?

A5. Yes, Lee Garland Photography is VAT registered. Our VAT Number is 940488018. Unless otherwise stated, the prices you see on the site include VAT.

Q6. I don't have a PayPal account. Can't I pay with my card instead?

A6. Yes of course, PayPal handle our payment processing, but you don't need to have an account with them. When you are at Checkout, and you have reviewed your basket you will choose to Pay. This will take you over to a secure page at PayPal in order to handle the transaction. You can either pay with your card, or if you have a PayPal account you can pay with that instead.

Q7. Can I pay with Cash or Cheque?

A7. Unfortunately we only take card payments. You can pay with either Mastercard/Eurocard, Maestro, Visa/Delta/Electron, American Express or Solo.

Q8. Can I collect my prints, rather than have them posted?

A8. Unfortunately we only offer a delivery service for our products. Sorry.

Q9. How long will it take to receive the prints?

A9. Officially, we say allow 14 days. In practice, it very rarely takes that long. As soon as you've paid, the order goes to the lab to get started on asap. The lab is staffed and operates during 'normal' working hours, therefore if you place an order on a weekend or evening, it will be actioned the next working day. For simple orders (like prints only) the turnaround is generally pretty quick, and your prints will likely be ready for despatch within 2-3 days. Postage can then take 4-5 days, but is usually quicker in practice. If your order contains premium products such as frames, canvases or cubit framed prints, these take a little longer to assemble and of course package. In which case you may be looking between 4-5 days in the lab, and then the 4-5 days postage.

Q10. I placed an order a while ago, but still nothing in the post.

A10. We are sorry to hear that - but would ask you to wait the full 14 days and then get in touch and we will look into the order for you. You can email us at store@leegarlandphotography.co.uk or call us on +44 (0)161 408 3777. In either case, please state your Unique Transaction ID.

Q11. My prints arrived but they're not what I ordered.

A11. We are very sorry to hear that. The lab is staffed, and handles orders by hand to ensure the best possible quality control. The fact that orders don't come in and go straight from computer to printer to envelope can very occasionally mean human error. The instances of incorrect images going out are exceedingly rare, but if it has occurred please accept our sincere apologies. We will correct the error free of charge and as quickly as possible. Please get in touch store@leegarlandphotography.co.uk or +44 (0)161 408 3777 with your Unique Transaction ID.

Q12. I have received my order, but it is damaged.

A12. We are very sorry to hear that. Please get in touch with us, stating your Unique Transaction ID and a description of what the damage is, and which parts of your order are affected. We will then arrange for you to send the damaged product back and can arrange either for a replacement, or a refund - whichever you prefer. We'll refund your return postage too, but you must ensure you get a Certificate of Posting or proof of postage since we can't make refunds or replacements unless we have receipt of the damaged goods.

Q13. I've changed my mind, can I cancel or amend my order?

A13. Unfortunately, the moment you pay for your order, it enters into production and we are not able to amend or cancel the order. Please take time to review your basket before proceeding to pay, to ensure the order is what you require.

Q14. How do I contact you?

A14. Either at store@leegarlandphotography.co.uk, on +44 (0)161 408 3777 or at
Lee Garland Photography
Studio 248
111 Piccadilly
Manchester M1 2HX

Q15. Do you have any jobs going?

A15. Any situations vacant will be advertised in the local press. Please do not send in resumes or email for work, we get a lot of enquiries for the creative side of the business, and unfortunately cannot reply to each.

Q16. Can I see a copy of your Terms & Conditions and your Privacy Policy?

A16. You can download the Terms & Conditions for the store, which includes the Privacy Policy by clicking here: http://www.leegarlandphotography.co.uk/_articles/StoreT&Cs.pdf
It is a '.pdf' document, and as such you may need (the free) Adobe Reader installed in order to read it. You can download that, by clicking here: http://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/
You will also need to review the Terms & Conditions prior to purchasing from the store, and to confirm that you have read them.

Q17. Do I own copyright of the images I purchase?

A17. Alas, no. Copyright always remains with the artist. In this case, everything sold through the store is © Lee Garland Photography 2009. What a photographer will occasionally sell to a client are usage rights, which is essentially a licence allowing them to 'use' the photo. However, there are no usage rights sold with the images sold in this store. You can of course put the image up on your wall, or pop it in an album, or display it on your desk at work - but what you can't do is put it in an exhibition, display it in a corporate reception area, start advertising your business with it, put it on a book cover or in any way reproduce it. For clarity, please refer to the agreed Terms & Conditions reviewed before proceeding to purchase. They are available here: http://www.leegarlandphotography.co.uk/_articles/StoreT&Cs.pdf
